Ho Ho Ho…

“It’s beginning to look a lot like christmas….”, so December has come upon us and now the yearly cycle of family gatherings, presents, christmas carols and parties starts to take place. The year is coming to an end, the days get shorter and somehow this all-glittery flair of lights and coziness is around. Doesn’t it sound nice? ❤

Oh, wait… I forgot to mention crowded shopping malls, never-ending versions of “Last Christmas” and aaaaaall this stress about getting the right presents for everyone. Just don’t forget any important person!

A couple of days ago, it happened to me that I felt completely stressed out because I had made my list of presents, which I’ve wanted to organise on one afternoon shopping trip. Crowds of people and this desperateness to find the right thing were my steady companions. People are moaning now about the stress behind christmas and I found myself joining in that choir of lost souls!

But wait! Is that what it’s all about? Don’t think, I will tell you now something about the real spirit and idea of christmas. What I mean is that I came to think, where this so-called “Christmas Stress” is coming from? Who is the hidden player pulling the strings and leading people to madness? The answer is simple: no one! It’s some kind of phantom raging around and it’s actually US driving ourselves crazy again 😀 . No one is standing behind me with a loaded pistol pushing me to accomplish my personal to do lists, right? It is just simply my ego, which wants me to achieve all the “have to’s” on an imaginary list. Some pre-set picture, which wants to be fulfilled. But it’s just that: an image! Nothing more and definitely not reality… 😉

Realising that, made me somehow laugh and shake my head at the same time. It’s again an evidence of the power of our mind over us; how easily we feel rushed and pushed. Just ask yourself: What will happen if you won’t manage to do all the shoppings, cookings or cleaning work at once? …Nothing! No one will die, no one will get hurt (hopefully! 😀 ). It is just our ego, which has to swallow that bitter pill, but nothing else will happen!

So next time, you find yourself in the snow storm of christmas madness:

  • STOP!
  • Breath deeply
  • Smile! 🙂

Nothing’s going to happen and the world keeps turning anyway! 🙂 May you all have a more relaxed and decelerated christmas time in order to enjoy its lights and beauty! Namaste to all!
